‘Bracha V’Hatzlacha’: Milei Installs Jewish Minister with Rebbe’s Words

Today, Argentina’s new Foreign Minister, Gerardo Werthein, was sworn in by Argentina’s President, Javier Gerardo Milei. As a Jew, Werthein took his oath using a Chumash.

In front of a full house of high officials, President Milei congratulated him and shared a teaching from this week’s Parsha, Lech Lecha.

“I find it relevant and appropriate to speak about this week’s Torah portion, Lech Lecha. It’s fascinating what this week’s portion teaches us: ‘Gerardo, you are now being sent with the strength of heaven!’ because this portion recounts Avraham’s travels around the world to spread the message of the Creator.

“Hashem tells us that Avraham will have great influence on the nations of the world, giving him the responsibility of carrying the message of the Torah to bring life and freedom to the whole world.”

Milei ended by wishing Foreign Minister Werthein, “As the Rebbe would often say, we wish you blessings and success!”
