With sadness, we regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Chana Rapoport of Yerushalayim. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. Rapoport was born Chana Sodberg on Erev Pesach, 5690, to her parents Reb Menachem Nochum and Chaya Devorah. In Elul 5712/1952 she married the chossid Reb Chanoch Henoch Rapoport, a tomim who suffered terribly under the communists, with Reb Aron Chazan acting as shadchan. Together they built a life of mesiras nefesh in the Soviet Union.
After finally being allowed to leave the Soviet Union, she settled in Yerushalayim and she and her husband were among the founders of the Chabad shul in the Pag”i neighborhood. They were also quite active in doing peulos among immigrants from the Soviet Union. Her husband Reb Henoch passed away on 25 Teves 5743/1983.
She is survived by her son Reb Nochum Zev (Velvel) – Yerushalayim, and daughters Leah Chaskind – Yerushalayim, and Esther Klein, Nachlas Har Chabad.
