When R’ Mendel Gniwisch shared the pregnancy complications his wife was facing, R’ Avremi Hershkop lent him a dollar that the Rebbe gave for an easy birth. As labor began on 24 Tishrei, the couple had the feeling that the baby would not be born on that day.

Five months into the pregnancy, matters looked grim for the Gniwisch family.
“Complications arose, and we rushed to the hospital,” R’ Mendel Gniwisch of Nachlas Har Chabad recounts. “Doctors immediately ran multiple medical tests and concluded that the life of the fetus was at risk. They suggested his wife be placed on bed rest and limit physical activity to increase the chance of a successful birth.”
Gniwisch wasn’t one to despair, and he confided with his friend R’ Avremi Hershkop, who shared that he possessed a dollar that the Rebbe gave for an easy birth, and he loaned it to him for the duration of the pregnancy.
“I felt calm and confident,” R’ Mendel recalled, “Trusting that with the Rebbe’s bracha, the birth would go smoothly.”
With an uneventful nine months of pregnancy coming to a close, labor began on the 24th of Tishrei this year. But, they had a feeling that something else would happen.
On 25 Tishrei, the exact day when the Rebbe gave the dollar and the bracha, the Gniwisch family welcomed their own bracha, a healthy baby girl.
