In the midst of Australia’s summer heat, the boys’ division of Camp Gan Israel Melbourne celebrated Chanukah with daily menorah lightings and a spirited camp atmosphere. With over 300 boys in the senior division and 80 in the junior division, the nightly menorah lighting was a highlight of the camp’s activities.

Each night, the boys lit their menorahs under the guidance of staff, who ensured everything was prepared and safe. Special tents were set up to accommodate the lightings, creating an organized and secure environment for everyone to participate in this special mitzvah.

The familiar tunes of Haneiros Halalu filled the campgrounds as the boys sang together, connecting to the miracle of Chanukah in a meaningful way. It was a simple yet powerful reminder of the light and warmth that the holiday brings.

Special thanks to the camp directors—Rabbi Moshe Kahn, Rabbi Menachem Lipskier, Rabbi Mordechai Guth, Rabbi Yossi Smollar, and Rabbi A.M. Adelist—who worked tirelessly to make the experience enjoyable, meaningful, and memorable for all.
