A strange occurence happened this past Shabbos at the Kosson shul in Boro Park, JDN reported. What began as a routine celebration of the birth of a baby girl ended with the surprising revelation that the baby was, in fact, a boy…

It all started when a young couple arrived at Maimonides Hospital for a premature delivery in the seventh month. Due to the medical urgency and the baby’s low weight, the medical team rushed the newborn to the neonatal intensive care unit. In the moment, one of the doctors told the excited father that he had a baby girl.

The father hurried back home before Shabbos, and the next morning, he was called up to the Torah in shul and named his daughter “Freida Nechama.” The entire community cheered and enthusiastically wished the family a heartfelt “Mazal Tov.”

However, the joy quickly turned into astonishment when in middle of the kiddush that followed, the father’s sister-in-law, who had just returned from visiting her sister at the hospital, revealed the surprising truth — it was a boy that was born. It turned out that due to the baby’s size, the medical staff had initially made a mistake in identifying the gender.

Despite the initial confusion, the family is now focused on celebrating the birth of their healthy baby. They are preparing for the bris which will take place in a few weeks due to the premature birth. The event is expected to be a grand celebration, as the entire community will come together to rejoice in the baby’s entry into Am Yisroel and to give him his true name.
