As Shliach Stepped Out, Missile Devastated Kherson Chabad

Just minutes after Kherson shliach Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Wolf left the central Chabad House to install a mezuzah in a community building, a missile hit the building directly, causing extensive damage to the shul and rabbi’s office.

A missile directly struck the central synagogue in Kherson, Ukraine, causing extensive damage. Significant destruction also occurred in the office of the city’s rabbi and the Rebbe’s shliach, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Wolf.

“This was a clear moment of hashgacha protis,” Rabbi Wolf, who narrowly escaped minutes earlier while leaving to affix a mezuzah in another community building, said. “The walls shook, and room where we daven – the very heart of our community – was completely destroyed. Yet our spirit remains unbroken. We will rebuild and restore the synagogue so that prayers can continue to be heard here, with Hashem’s help.”

The attack comes just two weeks after another missile struck the same location. The earlier explosive scattered dozens of smaller bombs before lodging in the shul’s wall, underscoring the ongoing danger faced by the community.
