As Leaders Debate Annexation, the Rebbe’s Voice Rings Clear
As Netanyahu and Trump spar over Israel’s future borders, including the annexation in Yehuda and Shomron and the fate of Gaza, the Rebbe’s clear stance remains timeless: Eretz Yisroel belongs to the Jewish people in its entirety, by divine right.
Talks over Israel’s territorial future have intensified as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu visited New York and addressed the United Nations on Friday. Central to the discussions are the potential annexation of parts of Yehuda and Shomron and debates over the future control of Gaza.
On Friday, President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. Nope, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen.” Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister would wait until returning to Israel to respond to Trump’s remarks.
Meanwhile, many analysts speculate that Netanyahu may never have intended to formally annex these areas, and that his statements were primarily aimed at reassuring certain coalition members – though this remains speculative.
The Rebbe was adamant that the most – and indeed only – effective way to address the nations of the world regarding Eretz Yisroel is to declare openly and proudly that this land was given to the Jewish people by Hashem, and therefore belongs in its entirety to them by divine right.
In a farbengen of 11 Nissan, 5736 (April 11, 1976), following United Nations Resolution 3379, which “determines that Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination,” the Rebbe underscored the importance of combining strategic insight with moral clarity in conversations about the country’s borders.

If we stick to the script, we would let the world know, Eretz Yisroel every single inch of it, belongs to the Jew. Anyone who dare try to mess with that…If G-d forbid they want to hurt us with the help of Hashem we can eliminate them.
