Art and Play Activities Connect Students Worldwide
Students from around the world experienced a meaningful Chanukah with energy, creativity, and joy through classroom programs and school-wide activities.
Nigri Jewish Online School created a meaningful Chanukah experience for their students worldwide with energy, creativity, and joy through classroom programs and school-wide activities.
The Nigri Jewish Online School, sister school to Nigri Shluchim Online School, caters to families worldwide who don’t have access to Jewish education or prefer online learning.
“To bring the spirit of Chanukah to every student, we were excited to host special programs and parties throughout the week,” shared Rochel Abrams, Director of the Day School Department. “The goal was to give students meaningful ways to connect through Torah, Mitzvos and Simcha.”
The youngest learners in Pre-1A celebrated with hands-on creativity, spinning paint-dipped dreidels to create colorful Chanukah artwork that brought the miracle to life. The boys classes created a Chanukah-themed Gimkit skit and another recorded a Chanukah song.
Level 8 students celebrated by making donuts, including gluten-free options so everyone could participate. In the General Studies middle school girls’ classes, students wrote Chanukah poems in the shape of a Menorah.
After school, the students participated in Chanukah parties that strengthened friendships and community, this included a Chanukah play featuring students from across the school run by Rabbi Yitzchok Jacobs, Director of the Boys Division, a creative menorah contest, and a lively Chanukah celebration with a Minute to Win It game and a magic show.
“For children living on army bases or in small towns without any Jewish community, Chanukah can feel like just another weekday,” said Extra-Curricular Director Goldie Shemtov. “Throughout Chanukah, Jewish Online School proved that even online, the light of Chanukah can shine bright!”
