This past Motzei Shabbos, in a powerful display of resilience and faith a menorah parade of nearly 35 cars lit up the streets of Amsterdam’s city center. For an hour and a half, the parade moved seamlessly under full police escort. Special thanks to the police for their wonderful efforts and cooperation in blocking streets ahead of the parade’s arrival, ensuring its smooth and uninterrupted drive.

The most uplifting part of the evening was the reaction from onlookers. Just 7 weeks after Amsterdam witnessed a horrific attack targeting Jews in the city center, onlookers in the street danced, smiled, waved enthusiastically and even requested Chanukiot. During these times, their joyful response was a breath of fresh air and gave the community and wonderful boost of Jewish pride.

The parade was organised by Rabbi Eli & Faigale Spiero and Rabbi Akiva & Taiby Camissar.

This menorah parade was a beautiful Kiddush Hashem, a powerful testament to the enduring triumph of light over darkness.
