Amsterdam Celebrates Rambam with Edgware Rov
A diverse crowd gathered at Chabad of Amstelveen for a Siyum HaRambam with local shluchim and rabbonim, as well as guest speaker Rabbi Eliezer Schneebalg of the Machzikei Hadas community in Edgware, England.
On Thursday evening, 18 Shevat, a special gathering was held at Beit Chabad in Amstelveen in honor of the Siyum HaRambam, celebrating the completion of the annual study cycle of the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah.
In accordance with the holy directive of the Rebbe, since 1984, Jews across the world study a daily portion of the Rambam with the goal of completing the entire Mishneh Torah within one year. This global learning initiative unites Jews of all backgrounds in a shared commitment to Torah study, strengthening both Torah knowledge and achdus among Klal Yisrael.
The daily Rambam study is actively observed throughout the Netherlands as well. The Siyum featured a lavish dinner, was organized by Rabbi Menachem Evers, and attracted a diverse local crowd.
The evening’s guest speaker was Rabbi Eliezer Schneebalg of the Machzikei Hadas community in Edgware, England. In his inspiring address, interchanging between Yiddish and English, he emphasized the importance of consistent daily Rambam study, highlighting how it also cultivates a simcha and joy in learning.
Additional divrei Torah were shared by Rabbi Akiva Camissar (Chabad Israeli Center), Rabbi Simcha Stanton, Rav of Kahal Chassidim, and Rabbi Shmuel Katzman (Chabad of the Netherlands).
