The IDF has now carried out well over 800 airstrikes across Lebanon, including in the Beqaa Valley, targeting Hezbollah launchers and arsenal. Airstrikes are still slightly limited, almost entirely avoiding Beirut. The number of airstrikes in one day is a record for Israel, and is nearing a world record.
A precision airstrike in Beirut targeted Ali Karki, the commander of Hezbollah’s southern command, and freshly appointed replacement of Ibrahim Aqil. Reports in Lebanon indicate that he was successfully eliminated. He’s the third member of Hezbollah’s high Jihad Council to be eliminated in recent months. This is a huge blow to Hezbollah’s abilities.
Hezbollah in turn fired over 200 rockets at Israeli communities, including Haifa, and as far as the Shomron, near Tel Aviv. They have not yet used any guided missiles. Only light injuries are reported, most rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome.
The Israeli government approved a special security situation for all of Israel. This is the first time during the October 7th war that this is declared for all of Israel, and not just specific areas. This doesn’t mean a change in instructions for civilians yet, just the ability for the government to do so, if needed.
Bloomberg reports that Iran is now begging for a de-escalation.
