After Receiving Rebbe’s Dollar, Hostage Made a Surprising Discovery
When a dollar of the Rebbe, provided by Chani Kozliner of Crown Heights, was presented to hostage Maksim Harkin, who recently returned home after two years in captivity, a startling discovery was made.
In an emotional meeting with hostage Maksim Harkin, who returned home a few days ago after two years in captivity, Shliach to Tirat HaCarmel Rabbi Yechezkel Markovitz and Chief Rabbi of Russia Shliach Rabbi Berel Lazar presented him with a Rebbe’s dollar.
The dollar, provided by Chani Kozliner of Crown Heights, was originally given to Maksim’s mother, Tala Harkin, who was deeply moved when she saw that the dollar’s year of issue, 1988, was the year Maksim was born.
Upon Maksim’s release during Chol Hamoed Sukkos, the dollar was presented to him personally. As it was handed to him, he realized an amazing detail: the dollar had been given directly from the Rebbe’s own hand during Chol Hamoed Sukkos, the very time of his eventual release from captivity.
