Across Israel’s Political Divide, Officials Learn Tanya
As security concerns and political tensions have intensified in Israel, dozens of leaders from across the political spectrum – coalition and opposition, religious and secular alike – have found unexpected common ground, studying selections from Tanya together with shliach Rabbi Mendel Wilhelm.
In recent weeks, as security concerns and political tensions have intensified in Israel, leaders from across the political spectrum – coalition and opposition, religious and secular alike – have found unexpected common ground around the newly released Tanya HaSholeim.
Rabbi Mendel Wilhelm, the shliach who serves as rabbi of Israel’s Ministry of Transportation, has developed close working relationships with many of the country’s senior public officials through his role overseeing religious needs across Israel’s public transportation system.
Over the past several months, despite the surrounding political “noise,” he has been meeting with these officials for brief, focused learning sessions – about fifteen minutes at a time – studying selections from Tanya. The learning has centered on Tanya HaSholeim, which presents the original text alongside a clear, modern Hebrew explanation of every word, together with a carefully compiled collection of insights from the Rebbeim since the Tanya was first published.
