A special gathering was held on Monday night in 770 in preparation for the 80th anniversary of 28 Sivan, the day the Rebbe and Rebbetzin arrived on American shores after their escape from Nazis occupied Europe.

Every year on Chof Ches Sivan, Chassidim celebrate the anniversary of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s arrival in New York, following their miraculous escape from Nazi-occupied Europe.

This year marks 80 years since the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s arrival, and chassidim around the world are already preparing to celebrate the special occasion.

The gathering on Monday night was first addressed by Rabbi Yosef Y. Braun of the Crown Heights Beis Din who spoke about how the purpose of Matan Torah is fulfilled when the Torah was brought to the American Continent (chatzi kadur hatachton).

Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi, mashpia in Tomchei Temimim, encouraged Bochurim studying in Yeshiva to reach out to their friends who are not presently in Yeshiva.

Rabbi Nachman Schapiro, mashpia in Oholei Torah zal, spoke about the significance of the number 80, and how it is specifically connected to 28 Sivan.

Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, Head Shliach of Thailand, spoke about the distinction of America Temimim, and how the Rebbe entrusted them with the mission of bringing Moshiach.

Rabbi Shais Taub, a world-renowned lecturer and author, spoke about how Chof Ches Sivan doesn’t just mark the Rebbe’s rescue from the Holocaust, but the day that enabled Moshiach’s arrival through bringing Chassidus to the American Continent.
