30 Days to Yud Shvat: Basi L’Gani with Commentary
30 Days to Yud Shvat, Rabbi Shmuel Pevzner presents this year’s Basi L’Gani maamar (5726) with an integrated commentary that explains the entire maamar in clear language.
Over the years, the Rebbe encouraged proper preparation for the great and holy day of Yud Shvat. As the Rebbe writes in his introduction to the last maamar in the Basi L’Gani series, the day involves two matters: the yahrtzeit of the previous Rebbe and, what pertains to us, the day the leadership of the new Rebbe began.
For this day, the maamar of Basi L’Gani was given to be studied. Every year, the Rebbe delivered a maamar on one specific ois, which is the ois of that year. The discourses pertaining to the upcoming Yud Shvat are from the years 5726 and 5746, which are based on Ois 16 of the original maamar.
There is a unique warmth and excitement for the Yud Shvat discourses; it is perhaps the one time a year when all Chassidim and temimim study the same ma’amar, engaging with it and debating its points.
To make it easier for the many who wish to understand the maamar, a booklet has been released again this year, containing Ois 16 of the original Basi L’Gani maamar, and Basi L’Gani 5726 with an integrated commentary that explains the entire maamar in clear language.
The commentary was written by Rabbi Shmuel Pevzner. His father, Rabbi Avraham Baruch Pevzner, Shliach and rov of the Anash community in Paris, France, reviewed the entire commentary and provided insights.
Additionally, the booklet includes the maamar “Vayolech Hashem,” which the Rebbe delivered on the Shabbos following Yud Shvat in 5726, where several concepts from the first maamar are explained. It also features the teachings of our Rebbes cited in the maamar. All of the above is printed with the permission of Kehot Publication Society.
