A group of bochurim from the Nyack Yeshiva, who are spending their summer break learning in the Toras Emes Yeshiva in Yerushalayim, embarked on a mission to support IDF soldiers stationed near Gaza. The bochurim traveled to several key locations to uplift the spirits of the soldiers and bring Yiddishkeit to the front lines.

The bochurim’s first stop was at a school in Ashkelon, where 300 soldiers from the Givati Brigade’s Shaked Battalion had gathered. These soldiers, recently rotated out of Gaza, were in the midst of group sessions. The bochurim brought lunch for the soldiers, making sure they had sustenance for both body and soul. They facilitated the laying of tefillin for many soldiers, creating a wave of mitzvah observance.

Next, the group moved to a staging area near Khan Younis. Here, they met with 120 soldiers preparing to enter Gaza. Despite the tense atmosphere, the bochurim provided the soldiers with food and assisted them in laying tefillin, offering both physical nourishment and spiritual encouragement.

The final stop of the day was at Sde Teman, where a prison holding Gaza terrorists is located. The bochurim met with 300 soldiers stationed there. Once again, they helped the soldiers don tefillin and distributed food, bringing a sense of warmth and camaraderie to the men on duty.

The summer program in Yerushalayim is directed by Rabbi Meir Heller, Menahel of the Yeshiva.

“It’s very important for the bochurim to go out during the summer to a new environment,” Rabbi Heller shared. “This is excellent for the summer period itself, and even more crucial for a fresh start for the coming year.”
