In reply to <a href="https://anash.org/new-doors-sparkling-floors-770-readies-for-tishrei/#comment-70433">No good deed goes unpunished</a>.

Who exactly do you think pays for it? The shul does, and residents of the neighborhood. The doors are not a "private" item. They belong to the shul and the community. It is reckless and shortsighted to carry out renovations right before a season known for destruction and careless individuals.
The residents of the neighborhood who daven there every day of the year deserve the best all year. Maybe they should put out some expensive carpets right before tishrei as well, isn't that a good thing?

In reply to <a href="https://anash.org/new-doors-sparkling-floors-770-readies-for-tishrei/#comment-70432">Not very smart</a>.

Of course, someone does something good and the complainers speak up. Whoever pays for it can decide for what to spend it and when to do it. They obviously think that a nice shul for Tishrei is important. If you want to do something for Cheshvan, you go and put together money for it.
And if you're not willing to do anything, best to keep quiet.

Seems like we aren't dealing with the brightest bulbs out here.
Imagine spending the whole elul painting benches, polishing floors and installing new doors, all for what? For it to be completely destroyed a few weeks later.
Halfway through tishrei the floor will be black, the benches will be dirty, and the doors will be smashed with random panels and windows missing, and it will stay that way until the next time they do maintenance, which is (you guessed it) next elul. For an entire year the shul will have broken doors which people will have to stuff coats in to prevent the cold air from coming in winter time, the benches will be broken from being jumped on, and we the residents of crown heights will continue Davening in a shul that shluchim are embarrassed to bring balabatim to.

Very normal.
Perhaps they should save the doors for cheshvan to replace the ones that will get destroyed during tishrei, and they should paint the benches in cheshvan, so that we have nice benches to learn on all year.
But no, it seems we are not the priority.
