In reply to Define חכמת חיצוניות. Learning about plumbing is also chochmos chitzoniyus, but it doesn't shape your mind to the same degree as learning about law and society. Both can be allowed under certain circumstances, but there is clearly a difference. The warning against chochmos chitzoniyus is not a chok. It's self understood that if you fill your mind with foreign ideas, it will shape your view of the world and your connection to Elokus.

In reply to Kasha mit Barsht. At different times, the Rebbe gave different reasons for not attending college. Some are related to the secular studies, others are related to influences and surroundings. That's why even if one manages to avoid the influences (i.e. specific courses taken online), the concerns still remain (except in instances when the study is allowed).

In reply to Phk. The Rebbe’s Milchama against college and the Rebbe’s Milchama against Limudei Chol are two separate Milchamos which have nothing to do with each other. Anyone who mentions them both in the same conversation doesn’t understand either.

For THAT, it’s perfect and I salute him. He’s bringing our Rebbe’s words and message to his people!

I’m not sure why anash.org published it is standard for Lubavitchers.

Maybe edit out that last paragraph about them becoming doctors and lawyers- as the Rebbe was clearly against going to college and university across the board; and long term courses as these even for parnasa. Especially in light of the yesterday’s Tanya that learning
חכמות חיצוניות is מטאה חב”ד שבנפש as that’s why the Alter Rebbe states we’re not on the level of the Rambam or Ramban to do so for Torah, Avodas Hashem or parnasa.
See ביאורי רנ”ג על התניא Reb Nachman Goldshmit that writes clearly on perek ches and tes of Tanya that even learning a trade when the time comes to earning a livelihood it doesn’t include learning חכמות חיצוניות.
