Correction: Dayan Fisher's z"l trip was encouraged and funded by the unforgettable askan and baal tsedoko R' Nosson (Bobby) Vogel z"l of Golders Green in whose house Dayan Fisher had been giving a shiur for the previous 20 years. When in Crown Heights Dayan Fisher stayed in the home of Reb Nosson's son Reb Dovid Sholom Vogel 'שי.

I heard Dayan Fisher AH speak in Beis Lubavitch Stamford Hill London after he returned from his visit to the Rebbe and the one thing that he said that I will always remember is "I thought I knew Rashi fairly well but after hearing the Rebbe's sichos I realise that I have to start learning it all over again." This from a man whose bekious in Nigleh was famous, if he was in an audience any speaker making the slightest misquote could be sure that Dayan Fisher AH would not only correct him but quote chapter and verse precisely, what was said, where it was said and all it's maarei mekomos.

I remember his visit to the Rebbe and the stir it caused when he came back as if it happened yesterday. I would just like to add add a few points for the record.

1. It was Rabbi Nachman Sudak z"l the head shliach to the UK who encouraged him to go and and (this I'm not sure about) helped fund the trip. Subsequent to his trip (or even before) Rabbi Sudak ensured that he received a copy of the Rebbe's edited weekly sicha before Shabbos. His son Rabbi Leivi Sudak head shliach in Edgware should be able to confirm details.

2. On his return he spoke at Lubavitch House in Stamford Hill London N16 to report on his trip. During the course of his speech he said I have not seen such a great Godol as the Rebbe since the Chofetz Chaim. In private conversation afterwards he said "Off the record not even the Chofetz Chaim"

3. Regarding his bar mitzvah sedra being parshas Tezaveh what was reported was slightly different to above: that when he asked the Rebbe how he knew, the Rebbe said to him that at the end of sedra it says Michoel siman.
4. Regarding different girso'ous in the gemora what was reported was that after the farbrengen some bochurim asked him why the Rebbe sometimes quotes Gomorra slightly differently each time he mentions them to which he replied that these are the different girso'ous.
