Correct (at least about the Gazans). On August 29, the IDF released documents recovered in Gaza, which show that Hamas falsified data from polls conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR).

The documents show how Hamas changed the results of the March 2024 poll to show a significantly larger support amongst Gaza residents for Hamas. Re the question, “In your opinion, was Hamas’ decision to attack Israel on October 7th correct?”: 71.3% was the fake result, whereas the actual result was 30.7%.
