There was no Gerer Rebbe with the name “R’ Yisroel Rotenberg”.
The father of the first gerer rebbe, R’ Yitzchok Meir Alter (chidushei horim) – was indeed R’ Yisroel Rotenberg.
So instead of “in a direct line from the Gerrer Rebbe, Rabbi Yisroel Rottenberg” it probably should have read “line from the father of the first gerrer rebbe, Rabbi Yisroel Rottenberg”.
