Family and friends of Rabbi Mendel Okunov a”h will gather tonight for a memorial event and siyum Mishnayos marking 30 days since his passing.
The shloshim will take place on Wednesday, 12 Nissan, April 13, at 8:30 PM, at FREE Shul of Crown Heights, 1383 President Street.
Separate seating for Men and Women. Refreshments will be served.
Rabbi Mendel Okunov, was a dedicated chossid who grew up in the Soviet Union, keeping mitzvos with great mesiras nefesh while hiding from the KGB
Reb Mendel devoted his life to the Rebbe’s Shlichus, and went on to be a major force in the F.R.E.E. organization. He directed Yeshivas Ohel Dovid and Camp Gan Yisroel under the F.R.E.E organization, showing thousands of students the warmth and light of Yiddishkeit. Many of his students went on to establish beautiful frum families, among them anash and shluchim of the Rebbe.
