A talmid of Tomchei Temimim, R. Fallik Gurary, brother of the Rashag, went on to become a gvir and askan like his father. Despite being arrested and exiled to Siberia for his activities, he and his wife remained committed to raising their children with a staunch dedication to Yiddishkeit and Chassidus.

An incredible masmid who learned at every moment - even on his deathbed - R. Volf Levitin was chosen to oversee the learning in the Zal in Lubavitch. Goyim were in awe of him, and when drinking in his wife's taven, they would ask if they were disturbing him from learning.

A holy but modest person, Reb Tzvi, the Baal Shem Tov's son, served as Rebbe after his father's histalkus. But a year later, he handed it over to the Mezritcher Maggid, something that amazed the Rebbe Rashab.

Overtaken with financial difficulty, R. Nochum Yitzchok Pinson overlooked his children's chinuch and they slowly became influenced by modernity. When it hit him, he enrolled his sons - ages 10 and 12 - at a branch of Tomchei Temimim 500 km away from home, where they became outstanding chassidim.

One of the early Chassidim of the Alter Rebbe, R. Yaakov of Shklov was a businessman known for his yiras Shamayim and avodas hatefilah. He once got so absorbed in davening while the Alter Rebbe said a maamar in his home.

A close talmid and grandson-in-law of R. Aizel Homiler, R. Leizer Shimon Tumarkin was already fluent in Likutei Torah from the start. The two learned together b'chavrusa, and he later published R. Aizel's Chassidus works.

A chossid of the Mitteler Rebbe and Tzemach Tzedek, and a senior talmid of R. Aizel Homiler, R. Menachem Nochum Glatman served as the rov of Chernigov before R. Peretz Chein. When a chazan candidate davened with tears, he was certain that his heartfelt davening would win him the position, but the chassidishe rov was not impressed.

When Reb Yisroel Noach, the Tzemach Tzedek's son, set out to build his home in Niezhin, he gathered the local baalei batim for advice. After hearing them out, he calmly explained that his father had taught him to do the opposite of whatever baalei batim suggest.

A wealthy merchant, R. Meir Simcha Chein learned Chassidus and davened ba’arichus each day. As a child, he entered his grandfather's study one Motzei Shabbos without greeting him, and he was taught a lesson in mentchlichkeit.

A chossid of the Alter Rebbe, R. Velvel Vilenker was a wealthy businessman with a brilliant mind, warm heart, and an oved Hashem with complete bitul. Ever since the Alter Rebbe looked at him, he could not speak a word without thinking first.

Known for his sharp tongue, R. Meir Paharer demanded the highest standards of authenticity in Chassidus and Avodas Hashem. He suspected the junior shadar, R. Gershon Ber Paharer, of repeating Chassidus without internalizing it.

A simple man with an incredible memory, R. Menachem Nochum Chanin was a choizer for the Mitteler Rebbe and Tzemach Tzedek, known for the great precision of his chazara.

A great maskil, oived and chossid, Reb Shmuel Ber Barisover, called “Rashdam" by the Rebbe Rashab, shared endless stories of earlier chassidim with the Frierdiker Rebbe

as a child.

A chossid of the Mittler Rebbe and a talmid of R. Yehuda Leib "Batlan," R. Chaim Veiler was a great gaon and the rov of Dvinsk. Yet, when a special needs man walked barefoot, R. Chaim visited him daily to put on his shoes.

A chossid of the Mitteler Rebbe, Reb Shimon Menashe Chaikin was the rov of the Ashkenazim in Chevron. At his kevura, the rock mountain would not budge, until a full cavern suddenly appeared.

Harav Yaakov Viderevitch, Moscow Rov and later of New York, was once taking a walk with Mr. Zev Wissotzky, founder of the famous tea company. A conversation about the dogs turned into an important lesson for Mr. Wissotzky.

From Mogilov, Ukraine, on the border with the Turkish Ottoman Empire, R. Leib became an early chossid when the Alter Rebbe stayed in his town on his planned journey to Eretz Yisroel. When a local yungerman was taunted for what seemed to be a lack of mofsim by the Alter Rebbe, R. Leib received for him a special message.

One of the greatest talmidim of the Mezritcher Maggid, Reb Elimelech of Lyzhensk became in charge of spreading Chassidus in Poland. When a certain rov spitefully placed Reb Elimelech's sefer under a bench, the Alter Rebbe assured him that he hadn't offended Reb Elimelech.

A great gaon and a chossid of the Mitteler Rebbe and Tzemach Tzedek, R. Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin moved from Russia to Eretz Yisroel in 5607. After several years, he showed up in Lubavitch to the Rebbe's surprise. But R. Eliyahu Yosef had a ready answer for what brought him back.
