The Chabad yeshiva at Migdal Ha’emek has an exceptional program led by Rabbi Akiva Goldshmidt, geared for bochurim and students from different backgrounds and countries, helping them excel in their learning in a chassidish and bright atmosphere.
The Spanish division, led by Rabbi Boruch Konfederak, runs a year round program, providing an open door for any Spanish speaker who wishes to get a taste of the real beauty of Yiddishkeit and Chassidus.
Last week, for the first time ever, the Spanish division hosted a Shabbaton catering to Spanish-speaking bochurim from all backgrounds. The guest speaker was Rav Tzvi Grunblatt, head shliach of Argentina, who came especially for this unique event. In spite of the limited space available, more than 70 Latino students who study in Eretz Hakodesh joined.
The Shabbaton started off with mivtzoim in Haifa, offering hundreds of Yidden the opportunity to fulfill the Mitzvah of Tefillin and handing out Shabbos candles.
This turned out to be a big hit, since it was the first time that many of them went on mivtzoim. As one student related, “It was very moving to be the one helping out another Jew put on Tefillin. It’s a great merit to be part of this.”
Over Shabbos, there were shiurim, chavrusas, and much singing and dancing. The Shabbos meals were accompanied by personal stories shared by the participants, and a Grand Farbrengen, where the bochurim listened and learned from the guest speaker Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt and heard about his shlichus in Argentina.
The peak of it all was when after 5 hours of studying Chassidus and 7 hours of farbrenging, the boys made a joint hachlata to give at least 1,200 Jews the merit of putting on Tefillin in honor of Yud Alef Nissan.
Overall, it was an inspiring and uplifting experience.
As Shabbos came to an end and the bochurim returned to their usual routine, the Yeshiva continues to invite all students from any background and country to visit and experience the special atmosphere for themselves.
