Ideas for growth.
1. Coordinate shabbos invites to family's approved by the local Tomchie Timimim, with individuals on the buchorim mivtzoim routes.
a) Bochurim are transitory Baale Batim can foster relationships to learn with people matchup with a shliach etc..

2. Self sustaining shabbos shluchim.
a) if the following is model is true:
- Someone has 5 years from the day they get married to be in a career.
- First year in Kollel someone can decide on industry (law, accounting, engineering, IT).
- These can be completed in 4 years.
- This Chassideshe Baal Habyis moves to an area that is not fundraising sustainable and therefore not serviced; shabbos minyan and maybe JLI once a week.
If this is to be enticing the existing framework (merkos 302) could/should accommodate, and lose its rigidity.

The point Rabbi Posner is making is, that before he went on shlichus the same thing was being said "there are no good shlichus places". (And if someone else would then write this article, Rabbi Posner could've said: "Easy for you to say, because you already have a shlichus".)

...is he wrong? How?

I grew up on shlichus and chose to go into business. I have numerous family and friends who have chosen to make shlichus their life. Some went to work for family, but many have found a need and decided to fill it. Some found a new place that required out-of-the-box thinking, and some filled a niche in an existing community. The common thread they have is the fire Rabbi Posner is talking about. It's not just something for them to do. It's a passion which creates ways to bring Yidishkeit to places people never thought needed it or in ways people didn't think possible.

You're entitled to disagree with Rabbi Posner's theory, but please make your argument. Don't fall back on today's cliche of, "Only a person of privilege would/can say that. They don't know what it's like for us underprivileged folk."
