A new program for girls grades 4-8 called “My Morah, My Star” encourages students to thank their Morahs and appreciate all that they mean to them.
The program, created by Igud Hamechanchos and launched in Crown Heights schools in honor of Chanukah, welcomes students to write thank-you letters to their teachers recognizing what they do for their students.
As it’s known, “Chanukah” is connected to the word “Chinuch” – education. That’s why Chanukah was traditionally a time for showing appreciation and gratitude to Rebbis and Morahs who shine their light year-round and help their students grow every day.
Beautifully designed cards in both English and Yiddish were made available in girls schools across Crown Heights and is available online for all who wish to join. Participants will enter multiple raffles for special prizes, and the best letters will also be rewarded. Every girl who submits a letter will receive a small gift as well.
Our Chachomim compare Torah teachers to stars that shine in the sky. “My Morah, My Star” recognizes this, and allows students to appreciate their own special Morah.
