There are certainly valid reasons for that: paying ever-larger mortgages and earning an honest living are just two that come to mind.

But beneath it all, I sense that some within our community have lost a measure of the willingness to sacrifice for ideals, in this case, hachnosas orchim. And, to state the obvious, this is only one example of a much broader phenomenon.

Like the king in the famous parable who ate the grain that drove everyone insane and marked his forehead beforehand, I mention this only so that the &quot;normal&quot; ones among us remember that we&#039;re idealistic Chassidim, not &quot;losers.&quot;]]></description>
