The correct story is: The Rebbe’s remark was about what was written on his sweater “S. Monica” or one of the other Californian cities that begin with a ‘S’ — and the Rebbe pointed and said in Yiddish: “This has to be taken out, you probably know what this means.” The Rebbe refferd to the word “Saint…” or “Santa…”

isn’t that what the compasses have? a plus sign.

also, in the shchita booklet the Rebbe points out that there is an issue also with the “double-dagger” which is two plus signs.
