This is not for the six individuals who studied with Reb Fitche Ofen; it’s for those who need to understand that simply having a foot or an arm doesn’t qualify someone to speak like a doctor. To be qualified to teach any subject, mere exposure is insufficient—one must study the topic in full and in an organized, systematic manner. That is: to be trained in it. What this semicha does is ONE thing — it establishes a definition for what should be considered a baseline for every mashpia. Of course, the certificate holds no importance, and the only thing of substance is the actual study of the Seder Hishtalshelus and Achdus Hashem. It’s also basic that this “foundational” study is only the beginning, vakm”l.

The purpose of this initiative is not to award or recognize individuals for learning Chassidus, nor is it about achieving gadlus. Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Ofen is a senior mashpia and teacher to other world-renowned mashpiim. His program seeks to restore a foundational baseline for mashpiim of Chassidus (a baseline that had previously existed in earlier generations).
