With sadness, we report the untimely passing of Rabbi Yerachmiel Ber (Rachmiel) Liberman, a”h, the rov of Congregation Lubavitch in South Brookline, Massachusetts. He was approximately 55 years old.
Rabbi Liberman was raised in the Boston area and was a student of the Achei Tmimim Schools there. He later learned in the yeshiva in 770 and received semicha from Rav Pinchas Hirshprung, Chief Rabbi of Montreal, and from Yeshiva Tomchei T’mimim at 770.
Rabbi Lieberman opened the first orthodox shul in South Brookline and Roxbury, and was given a bracha by the Rebbe on the name of the Shul, Congregation Lubavitch.
He was also the administrator of the Diamond-K kashrus agency, and Executive Director of the Jewish Educational Center of Massachusetts.
He is survived by his brothers Zalman Liberman, Craig Liberman, and sister Bonnie Liberman.
The levaya was held Friday, with burial at Montefiore Cemetery near the Ohel.

I remember some 30 years ago that he cane to visit me in my office in Quincy MA
He had procured what was new at the time PVC piping and made a huge Chanukah menorah for placement in Boston Common. My having a lighting factory, he asked me to wire it up for him.
He was one if the first Chabad pioneers in Boston besides Rabbi Ciment of the yeshiva

I run a rescue program to find homes for sacred objects from shuls that close. I met Rabbi Liberman through this program and spoke to him many times. He badly wanted a traditionally styled aron kodesh for his shul and I always gave him first notice when anything came up (but, sadly, nothing yet met his tastes). He was a kind and sweet man, and knowing him was a pleasure.
